Tropical Disturbance Near Florida, Southeast Coast Unlikely to Develop

An area of disturbed weather is currently near Florida.It's unlikely to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm.The Atlantic hurricane season is less than a month away.

A tropical disturbance near the Southeast coast will enhance rainfall in some areas, but it is not expected to develop into a tropical depression or storm.

Saturday morning, the National Hurricane Center said a broad area of low pressure was off the coast of the Carolinas.

Satellite imagery showed clusters of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the Atlantic Ocean.

Upper-level winds are generally unfavorable for the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm.

A cold front will begin to sling it away from the United States by Sunday evening.

The official June 1 start of the hurricane season is less than a month away, but sometimes storms form before that date. We've seen several examples of this in recent years, including Tropical Storm Alberto last May.
