China, the world’s top emitter announced that it plans to cap all emissions by the year 2030. The timeline marks the country’s first attempt to cap emissions despite that it spends more on renewable energy than anywhere else in the world.

In second place, the United States wants to lower emissions by as much as 28 percent by 2025. The U.S. is currently the only country among the top three greenhouse-gas emitters that has seen decreasing emissions in the past few years.
Rounding out the top three, India announced it wants to produce 40 percent of its power from renewable or low carbon sources by 2030. The country did not commit to any reduction in emissions.
