Winter Storm Troy Dumps Feet of Snow on Rockies (RECAP)

Winter Storm Troy dumped feet of snow on parts of the Rockies during the final days of March. Some light snow also fell in the northern Great Lakes from the storm.

Moderate to heavy snow from Troy affected the Reno, Nevada, area Monday morning (March 28), making for very hazardous travel conditions. The National Weather Service in Reno reported a storm snowfall total of 9.5 inches, while the airport saw 6.3 inches.

In Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada, a few locations saw snowfall totals of more than 2 feet. The combination of snow and wind from Troy forced the closure of a large part of Interstate 80 in Wyoming on Wednesday (March 30).
