Snow could impact parts of the Plains, Midwest and Northeast this weekend.The most recent forecast guidance is suggesting this will not be a major storm.
The first weekend of February will feature a swath of mainly light snow from parts of the Plains and Midwest into the Northeast.
Upper-level energy emanating from the Rockies will sweep eastward through the central and eastern states this weekend. Meanwhile, another batch of energy aloft will sweep through eastern Canada.

Upper-level energy moving across the Lower 48 and southward from Canada will bring snow to the Midwest this weekend. Those disturbances will combine over the Northeast, but it will likely be too late for significant snow.
Both of those areas of lift in the atmosphere will squeeze out light snow in parts of the Midwest and Northeast this weekend. The most recent forecast guidance suggests this will not be a major snow event, as those two areas of energy aloft are not expected to merge in time to produce a major Northeast coastal low-pressure system. However, we will continue to monitor for possible future changes to the forecast.
