Winter Storm Remus spread wintry precipitation across many Southern states Wednesday, Feb. 25, from Texas to Georgia and up to the Carolinas.
A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will fall from north Texas through the Gulf Coast states and into the Carolinas and Virginia. Eleven inches of snow fell in parts of Alabama. In addition, this system may bring severe thunderstorms to parts of Georgia and Florida.

Remus followed three other winter storms that have affected the South in recent weeks: and.
In advance of Remus, at least four states —Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas — declared states of emergency. Scores of offices and school districts across the affected areas closed on Wednesday and Thursday, as road conditions are expected to be slick in many areas.
