Its spine-like shape stretching across the ocean like a futuristic spaceship, the planned design for architect's Gianluca Santosuosso's MORPHotel may well be the cruise ship of the future.

The ambitious design for the luxurious hotel imagines a floating paradise comprised of capsules that offer guests a constantly changing view from their rooms while at sea because its buoyant structure developed around its "vertebral spine" would be constantly moving across the ocean, according to The Daily Mail.

The MORPHotel, which features a spine about half a mile in length, is designed to be a whole ecosystem on water, with an ability to change its shape according to the weather conditions and the surrounding site morphology. It will travel at a pace slower than the average velocity of a boat and will stop at various cities for planned periods of time, making the hotel an extension of the cities it docks in.

"I believe the idea of the journey itself, without a precise destination, is a dream shared among most people," Santosuosso told The Daily Mail. "This is the reason why this project, the idea behind it, raised the interest of many people, especially in the hospitality industry."

Like a cruise ship, the floating MORPHotel aims to help travelers discover unknown places.Guest accommodations and capsules are comprised of individual boats with the option to detach from the main ‘vertebrae’ and sail within a fixed distance, according to DesignBoom. The MORPHotel will feature eco-friendly technology: integrated solar panels, rainwater harvesting and floating vegetable gardens.

The stunning floating hotel will, of course, offer other luxurious amenities. The design even features a helipad so guests can access the hotel regardless of where it is in the world.
