Freezing Drizzle in the South Causes Multiple Accidents in North Texas

Freezing drizzle is wreaking havoc on roads in north Texas Sunday morning, and other parts of the South could expect to see icy travel on New Year's Eve.

near Cisco, Texas, where heavy freezing drizzle was reported early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Ciscois located between Fort Worth and Abilene.

Multiple accidents have also occurred on Interstate 35 to thenorth of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro in Cooke County, Texas.

The NWS has posted winter weather advisories in the South from north Texas and southern Oklahoma eastward into parts of Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, northern/central Mississippi and west-central Alabama.

Those areas could experience icy travel conditions on New Year's Eve, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Light ice accumulations were observed early Sunday in Starkville and Columbus, Mississippi.
