Dubai is a city known for innovationwith its spiraling buildings and indoor ski slopes, and soon, the United Arab Emirate's desert city will be home to the world's first drone taxis.

The drone will be able to fly up to 11,000 feet without a pilot and carry up to 255 pounds of weight. Authorities in Dubai were so impressed by the 440-pound drone presented at the C, they ordered a fleet of the pilot-less aircraft.

According to the Wall Street Journal, and once the service is in full swing, passengers will use an app to plot their GPS before pressing a launch button. Once in the air, the battery-operated drone can reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour and travel up to 31 miles on a single charge.
