One of Australia's largest cities, and the capital of New South Wales, Sydney is known for its rugged Pacific coastline and some of the Southern Hemisphere's best beaches. But it's not just all sun, sand and surf. This cosmopolitan city is also home to spectacular national parks, such as Sydney Harbour National Park, which features twisting islets and stunning harbour islands; and Royal National Park, which boastsworld-class bushwalking and mountain biking experiences.
While the beauty of Sydney is best experienced first-hand, a blimp currently flying and navigating a variety of routes across the city and down the Eastern coastline is showing Sydney in a new (and stunning) perspective.The Appliances Online blimp is the only operational blimp in the Southern Hemisphere flying all over Australia, and has been capturing amazing images of Sydney's landmarks and natural wonders from above—from the Sydney Opera House to Warragamba Dam and Ku-ring-gai National Park.

The blimp is flown by Chief Pilot Mark Finney, who has been flying airships around the globe for 15 years, navigating above dozens of countries including Japan, India, North America, Canada, Western Europe, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain.
The airship is 10-years old and with over 14,000 flying hours around the world—including an appearance in London during the 2012 Olympics. It is as long as three school buses, over 42 feet tall and contains enough helium to fill 136,000 party balloons. A crew of 13 supports the blimp that is always inflated, with at least one person monitoring the vessel at any time, including when it is grounded.
