Since 2006, photographer Goran Anastasovski has been capturing the beauty and life of wildlife. Based in Skopje, Macedonia, Anastasovski’s passion for animal photography stemmed from his desire to make a difference and help endangered and rare species.
“I also love the fact that you can never take the same photograph while photographing…wildlife,” Anastasovski told weather.com. “It’s always something different.”
Photographing animals can be a hard task, especially when capturing their actions behind a zoo's walls. “I usually take the photos in the early morning, when the sun is not the brightest,” he said. “The animals are also more active that time of the day.”
Anastasovski’s favorite subject are big cats, an animal that he describes as strong, but "soft and loving."
With limited time and access inside a zoo, Anastasovski practices patience and efficiency to get his perfect shots. “The time spent photographing depends on the mood of the animals,” he said. “There are times when I spent all day to take the best shot,” but “when work is pleasure there is no hard part.”
The hard part, though, comes down to selecting his best shots, which are actually chosen by others. “I can be attached to [the] animals and in that case I am not very objective,” he said.
He offered amateur photographers similar advice, “to take a lot of photos and not keep them to themselves but to let the world see them instead.” Sharing work with others allows them to help find the progress we may not see, he said.
