Rain didn't stop more than 600 corgis, many in adorable costumes, from making a splash at the fifth annual So Cal Corgi Beach Day in Huntington Dog Beach in California last Saturday, April 9.

The event, which drew corgi owners and lovers from around the world, is held by So Cal Corgi Nation, which donatesa portion of the events’ proceeds to Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue, an organization that has helped rescue more than 60 dogs since 2013.

The beach party, which is held three times a year, also featured a doggie limbo contest, talent show and costume competition. Doggie participants showed up in costumes such as a pirate, school bus, and even a taco. Some corgis simply enjoyed splashing in the surf and sand and meeting new friends, and other hid under beach umbrellas as light rain sprinkled the sand.

The world's most famous corgi lover, Queen Elizabeth, and her corgis, were reportedly invited to the event. Her Majesty didn't attend.

Event organizer Kelly McLemore told the Orange Country Register that the rain kept the numbers down this year; over 900 dogs were part of last year's So Cal Corgi Beach Day.
