Evacuation orders were lifted Monday in the vicinity of a wildfire that threatened homes in the Southern California desert community of San Jacinto over the weekend.
The fire began shortly before 6 p.m Saturday, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. About 60 homes were ordered to evacuate.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said the fire was burning slightly less than a square mile and was 40% contained Monday.
Fire officials ordered the evacuation of about 60 homes andnear Cottonwood Avenue and Warren Road, according to KNBC. Another 40 homes were threatened by the fire.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office closed at least four roads because of the fire.
The blaze, called the , was first reported at 5:52 p.m. Saturday near the 21000 block of Horseshoe Trail.
More than 230 firefighters were working the blaze on Saturday night.
